Proposal Night is for the moment you’ll tell people about for the rest of your lives — asking beneath the northern lights, with nothing and no one else around.

Every night starts the same way it does for all our tours: your guide has been tracking the aurora forecast all day — solar activity, cloud cover, all of it — and only heads out when conditions genuinely give you a good chance. But we know proposing under the aurora comes with its own kind of pressure — you’re not just hoping for a yes, you’re hoping the sky cooperates too. That’s why Proposal Night comes with something no other northern lights operator in Iceland offers: flexible booking with backup dates at no additional charge. Choose your evening, but keep a backup night in reserve — if clouds roll in on your first choice, we simply shift to the next best evening, so one cloudy night doesn’t decide how this story goes.

Because it’s your own private vehicle, we can move with real agility too — chasing clearer skies the moment they open up elsewhere, rather than staying put once we’ve settled somewhere. Your guide is also your photographer for the night, and together we’ll work out the details beforehand: when the moment should happen, where you’ll be standing, how to make it feel natural rather than staged, so all you have to think about is the question itself.

Once you’re out under the lights, everything that’s earned Aurora Experts its reputation is there too: access to our own secret spots, far from other tour groups, warm winter snowsuits and outdoor chairs so you’re comfortable through the whole night, and snacks and hot cocoa to keep you warm while you wait. And once the question’s been asked — champagne, to toast what just happened, beneath the same sky that watched it.

You’ll get an online gallery link to download your photos within 24 hours, so you can start sharing the news while the night is still fresh.

*Departures are at 9 PM during April, August, and September, and 8 PM from October 1st through March 31st.
